Idolatry of individualism has influenced the way we think about spiritual growth. Even while many people have this attitude, they are hungering for true relationship with others who think and believe like they do.
Most people have no plan for spiritual growth other than showing up at church and absorbing a few ideas. We can help them have a plan. Christians need relationships to grow. If we believe this-and we should since the Bible teaches it-we need to encourage people into small groups. We know the greatest barrier to spiritual growth is Satan and the world. We need to help people overcome the resistance they have because of these two influences that tries to keep them from growing.
